Due to government guidelines we have made some changes to the way we run the B & B.
To minimise social contact and keep everyone safe, we will not come in to your room for the duration of your stay and, therefore, it will not be tidied or restocked. To allow for this we will leave extra supplies of teas, coffees, bin bags, toilet rolls, etc in the room prior to your arrival. Full bin bags will be collected from outside your room daily.
Instead of being served in the dining area, breakfast will now be delivered to the door of your room at a time of your choice between 8 and 9.30 am and will consist of a roll with a selection of fillings including vegetarian and gluten free options, a croissant or pastry also with a gluten free option, and a bottle of juice, packed in a takeout carrier bag. For more details please see the Breakfast section of the website. You can then eat in your room or, if the weather is nice, your breakfast is ready to take for a picnic to the beach across the road, or even up to the beautiful South Downs, just a five minute drive away!
We normally operate a 48 hour cancellation policy, but while the virus is still around we will not make any charges if you inform us at any time before your arrival that you, or any of your party, are displaying corona virus Covid-19 symptoms.
We look forward to welcoming you to By the Sea very soon!
By the Sea is our adults only Victorian B&B on Eastbourne's seafront, situated opposite the Napoleonic Redoubt Fortress, the Pavilion Tea Gardens and the beach. We have two parking spaces at the rear of the building which operate on a first come, first served basis and unfortuanately cannot be reserved. There is also free parking in the streets around and a reasonably priced public car park a few minutes walk from the B and B. We have six en-suite bedrooms. One has a large balcony where you can sit and enjoy the sea view with your morning coffee and biscuits. Another has a window seat where you can curl up amongst the cushions and drink in views of the sparkling sea. Yet another has views across the town and church to the Downs in the distance and a further three overlook the quiet road behind. But whichever of our rooms you choose you can be sure of a good night's sleep in our comfortable beds; enjoy coffee, a selection of teas, hot chocolate and biscuits from our well stocked hospitality trays; and look forward to a hearty breakfast in our sunny dining room in the morning!
Eastbourne hosts a number of events throughout the year and has many attractions, not least the South Downs with its wonderful views of the sea, the famous Beachy Head light house and the miles and miles of scenic countryside walks. Eastbourne's quintessentially English seaside pier is a ten minute stroll along the seafront, while the town with its variety of shops and its many theatres, cinemas, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and parks is a further five minutes walk away!
